I'm currently a teaching fellow in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. Before coming to Edinburgh, I spent a year as a visiting researcher and lecturer at the University of Glasgow and I completed my PhD at the University of Leeds.
I work primarily in metaphysics and social and feminist philosophy. I am particularly interested in places where these areas overlap. My doctoral research investigated the role of truth in the method of metaphysics, particularly looking at how the demands placed on the concept of truth in theories of meaning for natural language can constrain or limit metaphysical inquiry. My current research project is concerned with how these metametaphysical issues play out in social ontology. I am interested in the degree to which a theory of ideology, taken as an explanatory tool for making sense of social belief and action, should constrain or inform our metaphysical theories about the nature of the social world.
